Prof Graham Braithwaite BSc (Hons), PhD. Loughborough, MRAeS, A/MISASI Visiting Fellow
Graham Braithwaite is Head of the Department of Air Transport and Professor of Safety and Accident Investigation at Cranfield University, UK. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Transport Management and Planning and a PhD in Aviation Safety Management from Loughborough University, UK. His main research interests are the development of training for incident and accident investigation, safety management and human factors. Graham has worked on a variety of research and consulting projects for organisations including Airservices Australia, Qantas, Halcrow, Regional Express, UK CAA, Risk and Reliability Associates and Airplan. He joined UNSW Aviation in February 1997 and worked at the Kensington campus until 2003 when he returned to the UK. In 2000, Graham initiated the Investigator Programs at UNSW and developed syllabuses for Airline Occurrence Investigation, Ground Safety Investigation, Advanced Investigation Techniques and Rail Safety Investigation. He is now a Visiting Fellow within the Department of Aviation at UNSW. Professional Activities Graham is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and is the Chairman of the Investigator Education and Training Working Group of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators. Since May 2003, Graham has held the position of Director of the Safety and Accident Investigation Centre within the Department of Air Transport at Cranfield University, UK.
