Some ideas for where to start looking are:

Sydney Airport Excursion

A field trip to Sydney Airport will be held on Saturday the 21st of April 2007. The excursion programme, which originates on the UNSW Kensington campus, commences with a lecture in the Rupert Myers theatre by a flying instructor from UNSW’s Aviation School at Bankstown, commencing at 9.00 am and is followed by the Airport field trip between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm. Because of limited coach seating there may have to be a second field trip between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm, depending upon course numbers. Air-conditioned coach transport will be provided to and from the airport at no charge to students. Please be seated in the Rupert Myers theatre by 8.55 am.

This popular field trip is an opportunity to actually see how the aviation industry works, from behind-the-scenes of a major international airport. It is important that students attend both the lecture and the Airport field trip as the Excursion test, which is worth 25 marks, consists of questions relating to what students have heard, seen or observed in the lecture or on the field trip.

If students are genuinely unable to attend the Airport fieldtrip due to religious beliefs or employment obligations only, they must formally advise the Lecturer in Charge in writing by delivering a note/letter/Minute to the Dept of Aviation Office by 4.00pm on the Monday of Week 4 AND by email. In such cases only, an alternative coursework assignment will need to be undertaken by the student.

During the course of the day students will:

  • Participate in a lecture with a flying instructor from UNSW’s Aviation School at Bankstown Airport;
  • Undertake a behind-the-scenes tour of Sydney Airport by coach;
  • Complete the Excursion test.

In case of absence from the class test, a request for special consideration may be made only in accordance with the University's standard guidelines.
