AVIA 5006 Airport Planning Aims Airport Planning includes the study of the following: town planning aspects, access, obstacles, growth, longer term issues of noise and other environmental issues, longer term political issues and ownership issues as airports become privatized. Also included are topics covering the process of privatization and investment evaluation, community benefits, airport master plans, forecasting aircraft movements and passenger and freight flows, terminal planning issues, runway and taxiway planning. Lecturer Location This course runs for twelve weeks. It is delivered entirely in Distance Learning format and is therefore accessible from any location. Assessment Students are required to complete two written assignments on topics that will be detailed in the Distance Learning manual. The assignments must be word-processed with all students expected to have a back-up copy on disk, to be made available to lecturer on request. There is also a final examination with this course.
