AVIA 5018 Aviation Human Factors

Aims

To develop an advanced appreciation of the principles of aviation human factors and an understanding of the application of human factors knowledge in aviation.

Aviation Human Factors is course that is important to everyone in aviation whether they realise it or not. The performance of individuals, groups and organisations is arguably the most powerful influence on both safety and commercial success. This postgraduate-level course is aimed at those working within aviation that need a detailed overview of the hazards posed by human factors and the various methods available to compensate for them. It has been written for a wide audience with particular emphasis on the practical application of this important course area.

Exclusions

Students having previously completed AVIA5017 Human Factors in Transportation Safety are excluded from enrolling into AVIA5018.

Location

This course runs for twelve weeks.
It is delivered entirely in Distance Learning format and is therefore accessible from any location.

Assessment

Students are required to complete two written assignments on topics that will be detailed in the Distance Learning manual. The assignments must be word-processed with all students expected to have a back-up copy on disk, to be made available to lecturer on request.

There is also a final examination with this course.
