AVIA 5314 Aviation System Safety Aims This subject aims to provide the student with an understanding of the principles of aviation system safety in order that the knowledge gained from such study can be used to better understand the often complex interaction between individuals and organisations and their effect on aviation safety. Successful completion of this module is expected to equip the student with the tools to develop and maintain a safety program that meets the requirements for Safety Management Systems as described in CASA Advisory Circular AC 119-270(0) APRIL 2002. Lecturer Location This course runs for six weeks. It is delivered entirely in Distance Learning format and is therefore accessible from any location. Assessment Students are required to complete one written assignment on a topic that will be detailed in the Distance Learning manual. The essays must be word-processed with all students expected to have a back-up copy on disk, to be made available to lecturer on request. There is also a final examination with this course.
