AVIA 2110 Aviation Human Factors 1

Aims

This course aims to help students to develop an understanding of human performance and the way that it affects the aviation industry.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of cognitive aspects of human performance that that are relevant to individuals in the aviation industry;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of factors that affect human performance in aviation;
  • Work as part of a small group to provide a concise overview of a human factors issue;
  • Reflect on your experiences of human factors issues and compare these to similar issues affecting the aviation industry.

This course runs for fourteen weeks in SESSION ONE .
Lectures are held on Thursdays in BIOMED E at 1200-1400

Assessment

Assessment components relate specifically to the learning outcomes for this course and key graduate attributes expected of UNSW students. There are three forms of assessment for this course:

  1. Experiential analysis (30%) - Due date: Friday 7 April 2006, 1700 hours (approx 2,000 words). See Assignment Overview for details.
  2. Group presentation and summary leaflet (30%) - Due date for leaflet: Friday 12 May 2005, 1700 hours. See Assignment Overview for details.
  3. Examination (40%) – An examination will be held at the end of the session covering aspects from whole course. The examination will take the form of essay and short answer questions.
