Information regarding changes to Program Structures The program structures for the Bachelor of Aviation (Flying) and the Bachelor of Aviation (Management) will change effective from Semester 1, 2008. All new 2008 students are to follow the new program structure as outlined in the 2008 Online Handbook. Current students are to use ONE of the following program curricula according to the year they commenced their program:
These curricula are available from the UNSW Aviation office. Semester 1, 2008 The new courses for Semester 1, 2008 are listed below. Students should read the information carefully as some exclusions apply to new course enrolment.
i. AVEN1310 and AVEN1910 were compulsory for 2006 and 2007 students, if you failed one of these you must re-enrol in the course in 2008. If you failed both, you must enrol in AVEN1920. ii. You are excluded from AVIA2401 if you have completed either AVIA2400 or AVIA3400. If you failed or passed only one of AVIA2400 or AVIA3400 and need to re-enrol in one of these courses, consent must be sought from the Department. iii. Students must not enrol in AVIA2501 if they have completed AVIA2500 before. Students who failed AVIA2500 and wish to re-enrol in this course must undertake AVIA2501. iv. Students who failed AVEN2910 or AVEN2920 are able to re-enrol in 2008. If you failed both, you must enrol in AVEN2230. v. Students are excluded from AVIA3301 if they have completed any of AVIA3300 or AVIA3600. If they failed or passed only one of these and need to re-enrol in the course, consent must be sought from the Department. vi. AVIA1700 and AVIA2210 were compulsory for 2006 and 2007 students. If you failed one of these you must re-enrol in the course in 2008. If you failed both, you must enrol in AVIA3401. vii. If you failed AVEN3230, AVEN3420 or AVEN3930 and wish to re-enrol you should approach the course coordinator for advice. Semester 2, 2008 The new courses for Semester 2, 2008 are listed below. Students should read the information carefully as some exclusions apply to new course enrolment.
i. Students are excluded from AVIA1401 if they have completed AVIA2110. Students who failed AVIA2110 must re-enrol in AVIA1401. ii. AVIA1900 was compulsory for 2006 and 2007 students. If you failed the course, you must enrol in AVIA1901. Students must not enrol in AVIA1901 if they have completed AVIA1900. iii. You must not enrol in AVIA2801 if you have completed any of AVIA2800 or AVIA3800. If you failed or passed only one of AVIA2800 or AVIA3800 and need to re-enrol in one of these courses, consent must be sought from the Department. iv. AVIA1810 and AVIA1850 were compulsory for 2006 and 2007 students. If you failed one of these you must re-enrol in the course in 2008. Consent must be sought from the Department. If you failed both, you must enrol in AVIA2701. v. Check with School of Safety Science for exclusion. SESC3601 may not be offered in S1 and S2. Mid-Year Entry Students
Other Issues and Reminders
Compulsory Meeting for 2nd and 3rd Year Students A COMPULSORY meeting will be taken place in the O-Week to address the changes of programs as well as other important issues for 2nd and 3rd students. Date: Wednesday 5th March Time: 1400-1500 (2nd Year Students), 1500-1600 (3rd Year Students) Location: OMB145 All students are required to attend the meeting.
