The Department of Aviation provides a range of services to support industry, ranging from short-term consultancy to longer-term contract research. We are also able to provide tailored short-courses either specifically for an individual client's needs, or within the scope of the MScTech (Aviation) Program. One of the things that makes the UNSW connection attractive is our ability to bring together experts from across a broad range of disciplines. The UNSW campus includes specialists in risk management, toxicology, fatigue, tourism, aeronautical engineering and atmospheric modelling, to name a few.
Consulting work can be undertaken either as pure consulting services (through the UNSW Unisearch Arm) or as contract research (through Unisearch or the Research Office) and may attract significant taxation concessions for the client, depending upon the type of work involved.

Longer term projects could be funded through the Australian Research Council's Linkage Scheme or through the provision of an Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) for a PhD student. Both schemes provide a generous level of support from the Government to match industry contributions.
