asdThe School of Aviation at UNSW consists of a core of permanent staff members, together with a large number of affiliated academics and aviation staff actively involved with delivering our degree programs and undertaking research.

We own Diamond DA-40 training aeroplanes, a Cessna 182RG and a Piper PA-44 Seminole for airborne research. Flying training and airborne research is conducted from our Flying Operations Unit at Bankstown Airport.

We offer a selection of programs and services to serve the aviation industry. Degree programs range from the Bachelor of Aviation (flying and management streams) to our Masters and Doctorate programs and are available in a range of different delivery modes. Whether you want to be a pilot, airport or airline manager, or work in government (or perhaps you already are!) - we are sure that the School of Aviation has a program that suits you. If you are looking for a research or consulting partner, then we are sure that we are also able to provide a quality product that is world class.

Who Studies at UNSW Aviation?

There are currently over 500 students enrolled in the programs at UNSW Aviation. They range from school leavers to senior management and all have one thing in common - a keen interest in the aviation industry.

Students from the Bachelor of Aviation Program tend to come directly from high school and attend the University on a full time basis, although it is also possible to study management part time. A number of students study for the degree whilst working within the industry. Some second year students also spend up to three months completing work-experience with major airlines during their vacations.

Recent graduates from the Bachelor of Aviation have found jobs all over Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Pilots from our Flying program have found instructing and charter work, especially in the Northern Territory and Western Australia with many having been accepted into Qantas, Virgin Australia, Rex, Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, and Singapore Airlines. Management stream graduates have found jobs within the likes of Qantas, British Airways, Airport Coordination Australia, Asiana Airlines, Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Airservices Australia and IATA.

The majority of students within the GradCert, GradDip and MScTech (Aviation) programs are already working within the aviation industry. Current students of the postgraduate programs include employees of Qantas, Airservices Australia, Rex, RAAF, Army, Sydney Airport Corporation and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority within Australia. International postgraduate coursework students include employees of Singapore Airlines, Silk Air, Cathay Pacific, Dragon Air, Emirates, the Royal Singapore Air Force, the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau and Viva Air.
