Ken Mclean has many accomplishments spanning an extensive career in the aviation industry.
Initially trained as an air traffic controller and pilot, Ken managed a number of ATC facilities including Sydney ATC and Executive General Manager ATC responsible for all Australia’s airspace. Whilst with Airservices Australia Ken established the Airspace Regulatory Agency prior to transitioning of the service to CASA.
ATC experience was followed by six years with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Singapore as Regional Director Asia Pacific and, for 12 months, Regional Director EUROPE. During this period, representing the major airlines globally, Ken travelled extensively throughout Asia Pacific and Europe meeting with Regulators, airports and service providers.
Ken then joined a US technology company which deployed global space based ADS B hosted on IRIDIUM NEXT satellite constellation. Ken’s role was Regional Director Asia Pacific for AIREON LCC (Washington based company) working with airlines and air traffic control providers developing use cases and business cases for global surveillance. During the start up period the role was also responsible for Africa and the Middle East.
Ken lectures in Regional and General Aviation, Air Traffic Management and has a role in the Aviation Sustainability course.
